Betfred started out as a bookies, but now, like many other sportsbook operators, they have a wide range of gambling services that they offer their customers. Whilst this review will focus on their online casino, we will touch upon these other areas. In fact, these other services are one of the reasons why you might want to give Betfred a go, since nearly all your online gambling needs are catered for by their website.
Licencing & Security
Licenced by the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority, Betfred is therefore located within a ‘Whitelist’ jurisdiction, where you can be confident in the regulation provided by the authorities there. Furthermore, Betfred has published their certified (by Technical Systems Testing) payout percentages for each month going all the way back to March 2006! Transactions are also protected by encryption provided by the well-known Verisign.
A less tangible form of security is in the brand itself. Betfred is a well-known betting brand within the UK and this adds confidence that this is actually a real company and they aren’t going to disappear overnight. All of the above add up to make Betfred a place where you can be confident to deposit your hard earned cash and get playing.
Betfred’s main software is provided by Playtech – one of the leading online casino software companies in the market at the moment & certainly the one which has released the most big name titles of late. Playtech is used for both the download and instant play casinos, however, there are a selection of games from other providers that can be found in the ‘Games’ tab.
As mentioned earlier in this review, there are a number of other services available on Betfred’s website:-
Betting – This is Betfred’s original service, offering bets on a huge range of sports, in-play betting, as well as ‘Specials’ (for things like who’s going to win X Factor etc.)
Mobile – This is currently just for betting; no mobile casino is on offer at present.
Live – Betfred also have a live casino where you can play table games over a webcam.
Poker – Does what it says on the tin – play poker online against others. Again, Playtech software is used for this service.
Bingo – Like Poker, there’s not much to explain here – Bingo is bingo. At the time of writing, they are offering a £30 sign up bonus if you deposit and play £10.
Virtual Sports – 5 virtual sports are currently on offer for you to bet on; Horse Racing, Dog Racing, Speedway, Football (though this is a match, not a race) and Motor Racing. Races are held every 3 minutes.
Lotto – This is a service we’ve not really come across before. It’s not a lottery; rather it lets you bet on the results of the lottery. The odds aren’t bad either (for example, on the UK lottery, you can bet on 3 numbers at 700/1 –you only get to pick 3 numbers not six, however, the payout is potentially a lot higher than the £10 you’d get actually playing), plus you can bet on as little as one number.
The banking options aren’t as wide as some online casinos, in that there aren’t the usual crowd of obscure e-wallets; however, all the major options that you’d expect are present. These include Credit & Debit cards, NETeller, PayPal, Moneybookers, Bank Transfer and cheque (check for our American friends, though if you’re based there you can’t join anyway). You can even pop into a Betfred shop and deposit there. These methods can also be used for withdrawals, though as per usual, these are subject to relevant security checks first.
Support is available in several formats:- e-mail, live chat, telephone and even good old fashioned letters. Help is available 24/7 and they try to respond to e-mail queries within a 24 hour period. If you’re really having problems, the fact that they have loads of shops on the high street means you know where they live!
A good comprehensive service, from a household name (at least in the UK it is!). Licenced in Gibraltar, and utilising the excellent Playtech software, you can be pretty confident of depositing your money here, so why not give it a go?
