Boom Brothers is a mining themed slot game from Net Entertainment, featuring 3 brothers in a 3D intro movie, who also pop up in the bonus game. Boom Brothers has nicer graphics than the usual slots, from cool 3D animations triggered by wins or ‘second chances’, to small touches such as not having traditional reels, but in keeping with the mining theme, the symbols are held together by chains.
The slot has 5 reels and up to 20 paylines that can be put into play. The symbols are various stylised face masks and other mining equipment such as lamps and picks. There’s the standard NetEnt autoplay interface available and as usual there’s no gamble feature re wins.
The game also has a ‘2nd Chance’ mechanism, where one of the brothers pops into the play area for example, changing some symbols into wilds, or ‘blowing up’ a reel to result in new symbols, thereby improving your chance of completing a payline.
Free Spins – 3 free spin symbols activate this feature. Within the free spins feature, each spin has a x3 multiplier activated.
Wild – This symbol substitutes for any apart from the Free Spins and the Bonus symbols. It is also the highest paying symbol in the game.
Bonus – 5 Railtrack symbols are required to activate the bonus game, though if you get 3 or 4, the game spins the remaining reels to give you the opportunity of hitting the bonus round after all. However, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get these extra symbols.
Here each of the three Boom Brothers are located in minecarts to the left of the screen. At the base of the screen are three other carts for you to select from. Within each is a symbol that corresponds to one of the brothers. A diamond activates the top row, a ruby the middle and a gold bar the bottom row. The symbol has a number of moves associated with it, and the first brother to reach the right hand side of the screen determines which bonus amount you receive. Hit the diamond, and you can get up to a massive 10,000 coins.
Well put together, with some fantastic graphics, Boom Brothers is a great slot. You’ll need to hold out for the bonus game to get a decent win total, but it’s an enjoyable play nonetheless.
