The Dallas Slot kicks off with the instantly recognisable credits from the long running TV show which this game is based on. The intro is skippable, so you don’t have to sit through it every time, but I’m still humming the theme tune (forgot how catchy it was!).
Our play didn’t result in any ‘big’ wins, other than in the bonus game, but even these were relatively modest. On the plus side, there are smaller wins fairly frequently, which allows you to maintain your account balance for longer. However, the free spins feature, whilst present, didn’t activate for us until after a really long time (but we might have just been unlucky on that front).
There are 25 paylines that can be activated and the bet per spin can be altered from to €0.01 to €125. Autoplay is via the standard NetEnt mechanism, which enables multiple spins to be set up in various increments from 10 to 1000 spins at a time. You can also set it to stop when certain conditions are met, such as on a win or once your balance has increased/decreased by the amount you’ve set.
Symbols – The main symbols in use in the game are the members of the Ewing family; JR himself, Sue Ellen, Miss Ellie, Jock and Lucy. The remaining symbols are Ace – Jack.
Free Spins – These are awarded on a scatter basis when 3 or more of the symbols appearing in the gameplay area. All spins during the feature have a x3 multiplier attached to them. The Free Spins feature can be re-triggered. 3 symbols grant 10 free spins, 4 symbols grants 15 and 5 will give you 25 free spins.
Wild – This symbol substitutes for all others, except for the scatter and bonus symbols. It is also the highest paying symbol in the game.
The Bonus Game is the ‘Ewing Oil Bonus Game’, and is triggered once you’ve managed to collect 5 bonus dollars in the main game (these symbols are shaped like a golden dollar). Here you use your collected bonus dollars (the value of which is dependent on the bets placed when you won them) to invest in any of the 5 oil pumps on the screen.
Each dollar invested at a pump increases the multiplier that it pays out, so investing 3 dollars will give you a x3 multiplier on whatever that pump produces. Each pump is also labelled with the range of coins that it will produce. You can play it safe on a pump with a high minimum value, but this will limit your maximum payout, or you can gamble on a pump with a higher max value. When you’re ready, hit start, and the selected pumps activate to tell you how much you’ve won.
Nice slot, based on the classic 80’s TV show. Good for a bit of nostalgia, and a nice bonus game too. When we played it, the wins were small but relatively often, with our only ‘big’ wins coming from the bonus game, but your balance doesn’t go down so quick, so a good one if you want to play for a while.
