Genting Casino

Genting Casino will be a familiar name to Aston Villa fans as they are their team’s shirt sponsors. For those of you not from Birmingham, they also operate a chain of casinos, both in the UK and worldwide (though mainly in Asia). These casinos operate under a number of different brands, such as Genting, Circus and Mint, and include high end casinos such as Crockfords (one of the oldest in London).

Licencing and Security

The casino is licenced by Alderney. This is one of the white list jurisdictions and is well regarded as a regulator of online gambling activities. Many other well-known brands (including Virgin Casino and Paddy Power Casino) are licenced there. Alderney are pretty strict and require detailed testing of not only the casino software (see below) but also demand that the casino have strong internal controls and systems to safeguard players.

Aside from the regulatory side, Genting is part of a massive group of companies that have worldwide operations, including hotel resorts and plantations. The huge size of the company behind the casino can give you as a player a lot of comfort in putting your money down. It’s certainly reassuring to us to know that there is a company worth several billion $’s behind it.

Payout percentages have been independently checked on a monthly basis by TST since October 2009 and the certificates can be viewed under the “Responsible Gambling” heading in the left hand menu on Genting’s website.

Genting uses Playtech to power their online casino, with both download and instant play versions (although download is restricted to PC’s only as is standard on Playtech). We did have a slight issue with the instant casino in Chrome, in that it wouldn’t open the page to register an account, but it worked perfectly for us in Firefox (turned out we had popups blocked on Chrome, but due to the way the site is set up – a pop up from a pop up – the usual symbol that lets you override the blocker in the browser didn’t appear, whereas on Firefox it did).

Other Services

VIP – This is an invite only programme, however, once you qualify, there are plenty of benefits to be had, including higher table limits, tailored bonuses and promotions, dedicated VIP manager as well as birthday gifts and invitations to exclusive events that they put on especially for members of the programme.

Live casino – Live Roulette, Baccarat and Blackjack are available to play at Genting’s live casino. At the time of writing, there’s a “Super Sunday” offer, where you’ll get 15% cashback on any roulette losses up to £50, then 10% cashback up to £50 across the remaining Sundays of the month.

PokerIn addition to the video poker that you can play in the casino section, Genting also offer a poker client where you can play against other members. They’ve got several Pros who play on the site, including the Hendon Mob who are the ‘headline act’.

Skill Games – You’ll need a separate account for this section which includes multiplayer games such as backgammon, blackjack and gin rummy to name just a few (the difference being you’re playing against other people rather than against a computer). Tournaments are held regularly (for the latest schedule, check their website).

‘Real World’ Casinos – As mentioned above, Genting operate a large number of casinos in the UK and around the world. In the UK, the casinos come under either the Genting, Circus or Mint brands, together with their four Premier London Clubs; Crockfords, The Palm Beach, The Colony Club and Maxims Club. Worldwide, their casinos have won “World’s leading casino resort” in the World Travel Awards 5 times out of 7 since first winning back in 2005 – not a bad run!

Genting has the following payment methods available; Debit and Credit Cards, Bank transfer, NETeller, Skrill (Moneybookers), Click2Pay, Click and Buy, UKash and Bank draft/express.

Processing times for withdrawals depend on the method used and vary from 3-5 days for a credit card, down to 1 day for something like NETeller or Skrill.

Finding help could be a little clearer. The live chat option is well positioned on the site (near the top left of the screen, but it wasn’t obvious how to find the other support methods. Usually there’s a back-up link to “Support” or something similar in the footer, but there’s not – details of the other support options are to be found in the “Contact Us 24/7” section tucked quietly away in the side menu.

Genting’s customer support team provide the usual support options and methods, though no phone number – rather you have to request a call back via Live Chat, so you might as well ask them what’s bothering you whilst you’re there.

With the weight of a massive organisation behind them, top notch software in Playtech and a chain of real world casinos to boot, Genting has a lot to offer. Although this is a relatively new (launched in 2010) online casino, the company has many more years of experience than that at running offline casinos in the real world very successfully. Put all of this together and you’ve got a pretty solid casino, so why not click on the link below and give them a try…
