Guruplay is an excellent casino, as we will see as we progress through this review. Although it may seem like it’s not really an important point compared to other factors such as withdrawal times, the site design is often a good place to start when reviewing a casino. There are plenty of clunky casino sites out there, and we are firm believers that whilst it’s not always the case, if the site is nice and slick, it usually seems to follow that the management are on top of everything else too. Guruplay passes this first hurdle, with a well-designed, easy to navigate site that loads quickly. With a promising start, it’s time to review the more detailed points.

Licencing & Security

Guruplay are an unusual casino as they are licenced by the UK Gambling Commission. The UK government is pretty hot on regulation so you can take a lot of comfort from the fact that Guruplay hold a licence there directly. However, be aware that this relates to the Live Casino and that the Casino is licenced in Malta. This is not a bad thing, since Malta is on the UK government’s white list of jurisdictions that are considered to offer a similar level of protection to players that would be there if the casino was licenced in the UK itself.

Security wise, Guruplay use Verisign, a widely recognised and respected provider of security which means that you can be rest assured regarding the encryption used by the casino with respect to your personal and payment details. Being located in the UK also means that Guruplay fall under other laws, such as the Data Protection Act – which gives strict protection for the personal information that is held by the casino about you.

Finally, the non-live games (i.e. NetEntertainment’s software – see below) has been certified by: the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, the Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta, Technical Systems Testing and eCOGRA!

Guruplay currently has 3 ‘strands’ to their site

  • Live Casino
  • Casino &
  • Poker

Live Casino – Guruplay’s dealers are based out of their London studio. Live games are scheduled, so you’ll have to get your timing right – at the time of writing, Roulette is available nearly all day (9am until 6am the next day), Blackjack is played from 2pm until 3 in the morning, and Baccarat is only available from 10pm until midnight.

Casino – Guruplay use Net Entertainment (NetEnt) for their casino product. NetEnt have been making a lot of improvements, and have some fantastic slots under their belt with amazing graphics and gameplay. If you’ve not played a NetEnt casino before, we highly recommend the experience! NetEnt also have a tie up with Universal, which should see a new range of big name slots being released – the first of which will be “Frankenstein” – see the video below for a taster…

The software is also only available as instant play. We much prefer this, since with the arrival of broadband, download and game response times haven’t been an issue in online gaming for many years now and having it all online means you can access your games from pretty much anywhere you can get online (including your phone – see below).

Also, if you head over to the FAQ section, there is a nice table which displays the theoretical payout percentages for all the games at the casino – lets you compare at a glance, rather than having to go to each game as you have to do on some other sites.

Poker – The poker client is provided by Ongame and has its own separate promotions and tournament schedules.

Currently, there is only an Android application available for mobile, but you can use the whole site in full on it! The slots play just like they do on your computer, though we did test this in the office, so the phone was hooked up to the wi-fi connection which may have helped. That said, the live games were a little bit ropey in comparison.

Payment options are nicely summarised in a comprehensive table that shows both deposit times and minimum amounts together with withdrawal times and limits. We still find it surprising that some casinos still don’t display this type of information in a way that’s easy to find and use as a visitor, which leaves you with the feeling that they are perhaps trying to hide something. As we’ve just said though, Guruplay are nice and up front about this, which again inspires confidence to deposit here.

The standard payment methods are present here, from VISA and Mastercard, NETeller and Moneybookers, bank transfer and a wide selection of e-wallet providers. Withdrawal times range from 24-48 hours, up to 3 to 5 working days for credit card payments.

As you would expect, support is available 24 hours a day and the team can be reached by phone, e-mail or post.

Guruplay isn’t a household name like Ladbrokes or Sky Vegas just yet, but they’re certainly on the right track. Everything appears to be of top quality, and if they continue as they are, it’s surely only a matter of time for word of mouth to spread. So click on the link below now and take a look!
