Mr Cashback is a new video slot from Playtech. It has 5 reels, 15 paylines that you can activate, with line bets varying from 0.05 up to 0.50, resulting in a max bet per spin of £7.50. The graphics are cartoon-like, and focus on money related symbols, such as piles of notes, a piggy bank and of course Mr Cashback himself.
Opening this slot up for the first time, from the name, we were expecting some sort of cash back to us as the player, and this is provided by the following mechanism. If an active line has not had any wins appear on it 50 times in a row, then you get 50 times your line bet back. The count is paused when the line is deactivated and resumed when it is brought back into play.
You can see the status of each line through a progress bar that makes its way round the outside of each line marker as more and more spins without a win are accumulated. You have to remember it’s not really a ‘win’, more of a refund – what it’s really doing is guaranteeing you a minimum win per 50 spins of at least 5x your line bet (this is the minimum, since if you don’t win, you get 50x the line bet back, instead of just the 5x for the lowest value symbol combination that will reset the counter).
Get 3 “Mr Cash Back” symbols (the words, not the man himself) and you’ll activate 12 free spins, each with an additional x2 multiplier attached. This is a scatter symbol, so get these symbols anywhere on the board to activate the free spins. More than 3 will not trigger additional free spins, but will multiply your bet up to a maximum of 100 times.
The Mr Cashback picture acts as a wild symbol, for all except for the scatter and is also the highest paying symbol in the game with a massive 7,500x the line bet for 5 on a line.
If you’re feeling extra lucky, you can gamble any wins through the imaginatively named “Gamble” button located next to the equally suitable “Spin” button. This will trigger a guessing game where you have to guess whether the next card drawn will be either red or black, doubling your win should you get the correct answer, and predictably, wiping it out should you guess wrong. If you have the nerve for it, the double up limit on this feature is £5,000, but we never got anywhere near that high without getting wiped out!
This is a jolly little slot. Nice and simple, with cute graphics and a very catchy theme tune – it’s childish to admit it, but while I was playing I found myself bopping along to it with a smile on my face. We didn’t come out on top during our playing session, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. Felt like fun though – definitely worth a go (if only for the theme tune 😉 )
