Sky Vegas Casino
Writing reviews is not always easy, particularly as many at the lower end can be pretty ‘samey’, however, Sky Vegas is not a bog standard casino. As you would expect from Sky, they have pulled out all the stops, offering live dealers, mobile games, instant win games, Bingo, Poker, Sports betting and much more, all on top of the regular casino offerings that you can find elsewhere.
Licencing and Security
Sky Vegas’s licence is from Alderney’s Gambling Control Commission, which is within the UK’s whitelist of approved ‘foreign’ gambling authorities, which are considered to have a similar level of oversight and regulation as would be found in the UK mainland. A nice touch is that on every game’s profile page, there is a little paragraph at the end that tells you the expected payout over a long period of time that has been calculated and checked by an independent testing company (though it doesn’t specify which).
You can also take comfort as a player in the Sky brand – Sky are a massive company and barring a massive financial disaster are very unlikely to disappear with your hard-earned cash. They also use 128 bit encryption which is the same level as you might find at your online bank.
Sky Vegas uses Wagerworks as their main software, though as is becoming more prevalent in the larger casinos, they have additional popular games from other companies, for example Call of Duty 4 from Cryptologic. Sky’s Casino is amongst more and more casinos that are no longer offering a download version of their casino, being totally internet based.
What sets this casino apart is the non-standard games and play modes that are on offer.
Sky has 3 games which you can play with a live dealer; Baccarat, Roulette and Blackjack. On selecting a game, you’ll be presented with a list of tables that you can join. Once in, you can chat via a text box, and place bets accordingly.
These are a group of games where you play as part of a community. As you play the game, you build up ‘eligibility’ towards the community bonus rounds with each spin. Now when any other player in the ‘community’ triggers the Community Bonus Feature, all those who are eligible will have the bonus features activated in their game too! The longer you play, the higher your multiplier when the bonus is triggered.
You can play at Sky Vegas through your Sky TV box. Just press the interactive button and select Sky Vegas.
This is becoming more common these days. Sky Vegas has a selection that can be played directly on your iPhone or if you have a normal phone there are a range of games that you can download to play on your handset.
High and Low Stakes sections
Sky Vegas have also set up 2 specialist rooms to cater for both High Rollers and low rollers respectively. The High Roller section – ‘The High Stakes Lounge’ has a selection of games with significantly higher limits – for example, Blackjack HS has a table limit of £15,000 per game. In complete contrast, the Penny Arcade lets you stake as low as a penny a time.
Being a major player in the online gambling and media world, Sky Vegas is not just limited to an online casino. When you open your account, you will also be able to access Sky Bet, Sky Poker, and Sky Bingo. Each of these are well executed sites in their own right.
There are not a large number of options available here but all the major methods such as VISA, Mastercard, NETeller and PayPal are present. These take various times to process with methods such as VISA being instant to deposit, though there is a 2-5 bank working day wait to process withdrawals back to your account. However, if you use NETeller or PayPal, you can get it ‘instantly’ (there may be some delay for security checks, but this should be no longer than 24 hours).
There is also good news for High Rollers, in that Sky do not impose any withdrawal restrictions (although there may be some restrictions imposed by your bank or withdrawal method that you have chosen).
Their support team surprised me with how efficient they are. When I was in the process of writing the review I took the time to update my address (just moved, so still working through changing everything over – what a pain) anyways, there was an issue as my bank hadn’t updated my details just yet, so it failed verification when I clicked on withdraw. I wasn’t in a rush so thought I’d come back to it later, but some nice chappy from their support team gave me a quick call out of the blue to help sort it out. Needless to say, very impressed!
When they’re not being psychic, you can get in touch with the support team via all the usual methods. These include Live chat, e-mail, snail mail and over the telephone, though the telephone option is only available from 9am to midnight (live chat is 24/7).
Seriously though, Sky Vegas is one of the best casinos out there, and certainly one that you should try if you’ve not played there before.
